Historic Beaufort, South Carolina
Downtown Beaufort, South CarolinaBeaufort is located on Port Royal Island, one of the large Sea Islands along the southeast Atlantic coast of the U.S. It is one of the few towns with its entire downtown designated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as a historic district. The town was filled with mansions built by the wealthy plantation owners before the Civil War. It was one of the only Southern towns occupied by Union troops, rather than destroyed during the war. More than 50 historic structures have been identified and include many lovely private homes beautifully restored and enjoyable on tour by professional guides, either walking or via horse-drawn carriage or bus. Spring and fall events offer special opportunities for visitors to tour several private homes and gardens.

Art galleries, antique shops and modern boutiques are also within the downtown walking area, not to mention fine dining and quick eateries. The moderate climate hosts outdoor relaxation for meals or park enjoyment year-round.

Located just outside of Beaufort is the Marine Corps Recruiting Depot, Parris Island where young men and women are turned into Marines. The training depot is located approximately 9 miles from Historic Downtown Beaufort. Also just miles from Downtown Beaufort is the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS), which is home to Marine Aircraft Group 31, one of the largest aircraft groups, which includes approximately 4,200 Marines and Sailors.

The Abby
As the sun rises over a city rich in history, it shines down on a new secluded neighborhood known as The Abby. The Abby is nestled amongst Spanish moss, beautiful live oak trees and some of the greatest natural beauty. In an area with untamed beauty emerges a warm, wonderful community where neighbors become friends. This peaceful setting offers home sites for families looking for an old-fashioned neighborhood atmosphere with easy access to schools and medical facilities. Streets are limed with sidewalks and streetlights. Model homes will open later this spring.

Homes will range in size from 1,200 to 2,000 square feet. Lots will range in price from $75,000 to $95,000 and homes will be offered in the $225,000 to $349,000 range.
